Avoid These Dieting Practices...[extracted frm Yahoo Health]
Many of us start putting on the pounds when life gets too busy to fit in exercise. Sure we're busy with the demands of work and family but those don't necessarily get our muscles fired up and heart pumping effectively to burn lots of calories.
The same time constraints often lead us to choose easy, fast food options which are often loaded with fat and calories. Isn't it easier to grab a burger or bagel than to take the time to prepare healthier, lower-calorie meals?
Then there are those milestones in our lives that tend to translate into extra pounds - like pregnancy, the "freshman 15" (gaining 15 pounds) early in college, and the slowdown in metabolism around menopause.
Bottom line: Day after day, calories consumed outweigh those burned, which translates into pounds on our hips and thighs.
We feel pressured to lose the added pounds when we learn about the health risks associated with obesity like heart disease and diabetes. Likely you've heard from a health professional or a family member that you ought to lose weight.
Yet who among us can measure up to the unrealistic standards of body weight presented to us by the media month after month in the endless parade of ultra-thin models and celebrities that grace the covers of nearly every woman's magazine?
Making the right diet choices may seem difficult, and sometimes we may be tempted to take shortcuts that could be unhealthy or even dangerous over the long term. We allow ourselves to get hooked by diet fads because they can often deliver a quick initial drop in weight (which of course then creates an addictive, positive-feedback loop that encourages us to continue the unhealthy behaviors).
You may already know which dangerous diet techniques I'm referring to, but let's run through a few:
Purging (vomiting) after a meal
Starvation
Laxative abuse
Diuretic abuse
Stimulant abuse
Why are these practices dangerous? It's all about maintaining the chemical balance within our bodies. Our blood, for example, has a perfect balance of salts such as sodium, potassium, and calcium, and these substances must all be in just the right amounts if our hearts are to pump normally and our muscles to contract.
Our bodies also maintain a strict balance of acids and their chemical opposites, bases, an equilibrium that is reflected in a value called the pH. Changes in pH influence the balance of salts in the body. All of the diet techniques listed above can cause dramatic losses of potassium, stomach acid, and bicarbonate (a base). One of the frightening consequences such behaviors may lead to is an irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia), which is associated with cardiac arrest and death.
Here are some other common problems these dieting methods may cause:
Damage to the tooth enamel when stomach acid is forced out through the mouth during vomiting.
Cramping and diarrhea due to laxative use.
An inability to achieve regular bowel movements without resorting to laxatives.
Jitteriness, sleep difficulties, and heart palpitations caused by some of the dieting products containing stimulants. (The stimulant Fen-phen-fenfluramine and phentermine-was banned in the United States after it was associated with heart damage and deaths, primarily among women.)
The breakdown and ingestion of muscle during starvation, as the body tries to use its own substance to provide essential nutrients to the brain, thus counteracting any beneficial effects of a diet.
An increasing risk of osteoporosis as long-term indulgence in such diets depletes calcium from the bones.
So, for a lifetime of health and fitness, go with what's been proven to work: follow a diet that's low in simple carbohydrates and saturated fats, and balance it with increased physical activity.
It may take a few months to start seeing results, but with patience and a commitment to your overall well being, you'll eventually get to enjoy the sustained benefits of this healthier approach over many years.

A little more on Jaejoong: Born in 1986, he was born with the blood-type O and has the personality of someone with this blood type. He is the main vocal of the group, and is carrying out the role of the "big brother" with Yunho. He gives the most criticisms to the members regarding music. Jaejoong has deep thoughts and talks straight-forwardly. His neat and tidy personality is portrayed in the dorm they live in. Cleaning every corner of the house is blatantly a part of this trait, but he also is interested in cooking and feeds everyone in the group. For this reason, he is the 'mother' of the group. He has exceptional cooking skills and can prepare 15 kinds of dishes easily. He won the best-looking award from SM, and is a pretty boy, but his hobby is weight training -- he has a great, masculine body in contrast to his feminine face. Jaejoong is interested in people's relationships and likes to love.

A little more on Changmin: An aquarius born in 1988, his blood type is B. He is greedy when it comes to music, so sometimes he cries when he isn't satisfied with his singing. Because his parents are teachers, he is also very competitive and tries very hard at schoolwork and reading. Though the youngest in the group, he is the most modest and has the deepest thoughts. He can be honest and blunt when he strongly believes that something should not be done. Though shy at first, he is a very bright boy when you get to know him well. He followed his friend to an SM contest and luckily won the Best Singer award.
XIAH
Stage Name: Xiah

A little more on Junsu: Born on January 1, 1987, he is a capricorn. (Actually he's born on 15th December 1986) He has the middle-high vocal part in the group. The group labels him as an innocent and bright boy. On the other hand, he makes a 180 degree change on stage and performs with great charisma. Junsu maintains order and balance in the group when they face difficulty. Possibly because of his long 6 year training, he is very empathetic and thinks a lot about people's feelings. He plays the piano well and is very poetic,he enjoys writing poems. One of his dreams in life is to have his writing published into a book. One of his motivations in his singing career is the unachieved dream of his mother who once dreamed of being a star. He wanted to become an athlete. In group, there is a member who gets support from girls who were former Miss Koreas. Why? Because Su’s mom is a former Miss Korea. I guess Su got his pretty and delicate looks from his mom. Su was known in his junior high years to be a good singer. In the morning gatherings, when Su sang the school song, it went throunh the speakers and was heard by the whole school. But Su wanted to be a athlete. He was in the baseball and soccer team and he still likes sport now. But after he saw H.O.T on TV,his dream was to “sing on stage”

A little more on Yoochun: A gemini born in 1986, he has the middle-low vocal part of the group. Along with Xiah, he is the middle voice of the group. He is an important figure that brightens up the mood and atmosphere with his funny personality. Perhaps he couldn't hide his talent even when he was little, for he won the highest award at the Korean/American Music Contest and the KBN Music Contest for young adults. Yoochun is very interested in composing and he's written over 100 songs, and the members personally like his songs the best out of the ones the members composed. He joined the team and left his family in America, and he admits that he sometimes misses driving around Virgina. But he says that this moment, right now, is the happiest of his life.

A little more on Yunho: Born in 1986, he is also an aquarius like Jaejoong. He is the team's leader and the bass vocal part of the group. Having too many thoughts being a distinctive character trait of an A-blood type, Yunho also carries this trait. He won the Best Dancer award from SM and is the most talented in dancing. His hobby is to choreograph. Yunho has experience as a rapper from Dana's 1st album song, Diamond. finally... IT"S HOLIDAY! Yeaaaahhhhh!!! I'm lovin' it![extracted frm my private blog(11/3/2008)]
Sorry 4 nt blogging 4 a long tm... I was kinda busy since i 1st stepped into Nilai International University College... It's a very long story hw i actually rejected the state gov scholarship.. Weird huh? Let's make it simple k! at the 11th hour, i've gt no choice but the make this tough decision to reject the scholarship eventhough it seems "luxurious", yala, so called luxurious. Being a doctor is no joke ok! Nw i decided 2 pursue my 1st choice which is to be a forensic specialist.. I'm currently studying diploma in medical laboratory technology. Kinda new 2 me, but nt 2 all of u blog readers la.. Hehehehe... when i 1st came here,. i fell in love with my campus. The environment here is superb beautiful, like in a paradise.. awwww... I love it sooo much lol!
On my 1st day in campus, my whole family was here( me, my parents n my sis). Den v settle those registration thing lor. Elynn was the one who guided us thru all these registration process.. Kinda nice lady lol! Guys, wanna pikat? huhuhuhuhu... Joking la!HAHAHAHA... Mr. Jeffrey was away in Sri Lanka, so, Elynn was the one who settle ma.. The worst thing is me n my sis was merely mistaken 4 a guy!OMG! Gender blind o wat arh!? Isk.. isk.. isk.. reminds me 2 siraj who mistaken Sze Kuan for a guy during LCC(Leo Charity COncert) last yr.. hahahahahahaha... gr8 joke la!
On the 1st day itself i missed lesson lio bcz i didnt notice the timetable which is attached 2gther with my brochure.. hahahaha.. wat 2 do.. aku ni mmg blurr.. The nxt day oso i gt class( my very 1st class la..).. Den still blurrr.... ya la.. 1st day ma.. i'm oso nt used 2 the campus.. My 1st class was Immunology at R405SL(Science Lab). A very big lab, i mean, bigger than those labs in schools... ahahahahahaha..
My life here, one word 2 describe~~FUN! Every morning hv 2 wake up at 6.30 am, except on weekends la.. den my breakfast is only a cup of milk(kinda saturated lol..). The reason i wake up early is to take a bath b4 anyone does! huhuhu... The water heater oni gt one unit(tat means only one toilet with water heater! OMG!).. Another reason is to enjoy a relaxing bath w/o having to smell the smoke frm the cigarettes! Those China gals nxt door r smokers u noe! haizz...
In class, as usual, after each practical, ppl will start to 'book' my practical like booking concert tickets or even clone my practical.. actually i dun encourage tis kinda thing, especially DMLT students where they'll hv 2 do lots of practical. If kept on cloning my practical oso wont benefit them la.. I hope u knw wat i meant. Isk... isk.. isk.. I tot those monkeys were oni looking at it for an example.. but tis wan, adoi! copy oso bulat-bulat.. More like cloning, but tis one cloning on non-living thing.. hehehehe... One day, i found out tat tis monkey lost my practical! OMG! The original copy summore... luckily i printed xtra copy. I dun wan 2 reveal the person 4 some gud purpose la.. miahne!
Mac Centre is the only shop in my campus tat offers photocopying service.. so, they kinda like monopolying the students la.. The price is superb "low" u noe.. masuk kedai ada duit, keluar kedai habis pokai! tat day i bind my assignment n it costs me RM3 per assignment..if my assignment is thick, i dun mind. tis wan is superb thin, i think thinner than my class mag! I did binding 4 times, n u knw la empat kali tiga, jadi dua belas! haizzz... i jx add another 10 pieces paper n re-bind, n tat costs me another RM3..
Another problematic shop is our so called ONE STOP SHOP which sells groceries la.. I seldom buy things frm there, unless i'm in desperate need of junk food n some snacks.. The food sold at the canteen is delicious, but imagine if u're eating the same old food everyday! gt once i even starved for half a day cz when i thinked abt the food sold at the canteen, NO APPETITE LIO..! Pete's Kitchen is the only shop tat sells western food at a very reasonable price. Believe me tat the chicken chop is sooo much better compared 2 Amigo.. The Pete punya sebelah is an Indian shop, also the only indian shop in my campus.. the food sold here is extremely miserable n then when come to paying 4 the food, terus pengsan! The normal meal tat i alwiz eat in melaka costs abt RM6++, whereas in melaka it only costs RM3.50. There r quite a number of Malay stalls, but fortunately, equally as many as those Chinese stalls. Normally i'll buy economy rice cz gt vege ma n oso quite cheap, except the chinese economy rice. Really cut throat la! Imagine 2day u pay RM3.50 for ur meal. Den the nxt trip, u took the same thing but u ended up paying RM4.00.. within a few days can increase tat much arh? adoi! petrol price hike oso nt so jialat till like tis ma!
Den the two most popular chinese stalls were the Fried Rice Corner n another stall which sells wantan mee.. tat's y i normally go n gt my lunch bfore 12pm to avoid unnecessary "traffic congestion".. Star Baker is the only luxurious coffee shop in my campus(air conditioned cafe)... U can alwiz see lecturers eating there during their lunch break, especially my Madam Gaya! huhuhu... At my campus u can see a large community of BLACKS! No joke! blacks! In my class itself gt 2 blacks lio.. one is Franklin(Toke) n the other one is Peter... But if i observe their attitude, i think Peter is better than Frank de.. Frank seems 2 b kinda vulgar at times, especially when he started using the four letter word! apa la! Everywhere u go in the college, u can see at least one of these 'creatures'.. They r here 2 waste money by partying n etc.. nt to study! If u ask mr. sam abt tis, he'll tell u the same thing..
Abt my lecturer, i'm satisfied with both of them. Mdm. Gayathery Subramaniam(Rajavenee's clone.. hehehehehe...) is my Basic Biochemistry n Immunology lecturer.. Kinda nice lecturer, but sometimes......haizz... dunno hw 2 explain la, especially when her mood swings! OMG! No wonder Mercury confessed that she's fierce.. hahahahaha.. Mr. Samsudin Bahari is our MLT head and our lecturer for Laboratory Equipment.. an easy subject tat anyone can master trust me! it's dealing with our understanding of the frequently used Laboratory Equipment.. Each time after lesson, i'll hv a short(or smtimes long) chat with him. hehehehe...
For tis sem, we're taking 3 major subjects:
Laboratory Equipment--MPAX 1114
Basic Biochemistry--MPAE 1113
Immunology--MPAI 1212
The most tiring day 4 most of us is Monday.. Cz v gt class at 8am till 12pm den 1pm to 3pm.. haizz... when 3pm all of us will look like one of those mummies in Egypt.. hahahahaha... the most interesting part of tis course is during practical.. I enjoyed myself experimenting on those colored solutions n using the colorimeter... I did broke a test tube, but luckily nt like in IJC where they gt tis concept of 'U BREAK, U PAY!' hahahahaha... Luckily Mr. Samsudin is nice enough 2 smile at me when i told him abt tis matter... Am i naughty? Yesss... whuahaahhahahahahaha!!!!!!
In the lab, of cz need 2 wear labcoat la.. o nt, v will b forbidden frm doing any experiments.. unlike in schools where v jx need 2 b ourself(tat means wear school uniform la.. ). If the solution spill on ur uniform, den GOD BLESS U! Muahahahahah!!! The library in Nilai is equivalent to 'pasar malam' where u can hear ppl talking loudly w/o thinking of others.. There was a day where i went there 2 study after class. den tis gp of 4 Indian ppl were talking superb loud. Luckily i was nice enuf 2 tell them to lower dwn their voices.. But oni lasts for less than 5 minutes! Arrrrggghhhhhh!!! I was a librarian b4 in 2ndary school. so, i will feel annoyed when ppl make sooo much noise in the library. Seriously, those monkeys gt no common sense! The books here nt bad la.. Gt those medical books tat really interest me.. huhuhu...
Tis yr, i gt a wonderful Valentine cz i did my midterm Immuno at Mdm. gayathery's office! Whuahahahaa... At night i was busy but i still took a stroll at the campus(HC Block).. I went there 2 play badminton with my sister.. hehehe... Den on the way, i can see ppl, especially boys n gals walking around having their valentine moments. Some gals were crying.. dunno 4 wat oso.. Siao! hahahahaha..
In my room, the temperature at night is equivalent to Genting highlands outdoor theme park! Very cold huh? no joke ok! if it's raining den will b worse de.. I'd becum an eskimo by covering myself with my blankets while walking in my room.. Luckily it is nt air conditioned or i'll b a FROZEN CAT! The main prob is my apartment is surrounded by trees! even in the afternoon, u cant see the sun.
Smtimes at night i can hear ppl talking loudly dwnstairs like their bapak punya apartment! so annoying! there was this night where those indian ppl having party at the president's hall. Aiyo! i cant even study u noe! Luckily tis event is nt on a weekly basis, or i'll definately move out de!
a few weeks ago, as i was sleeping soundly, i heard sm1 knock my door. Kinda eerie feeling. I gt so shocked tat i fell frm my bed n i sprained my legs n my left hand.. haizz.. nt 2 4gt, i oso knocked my head against the floor! very pain u noe.. den the nxt thing is my MSN gt ppl send msg.. Then i decided 2 ignore the sound frm the door n see who chat with me la.. It was Mercury.. adoi! I wanted to scream in pain but cant cz the pain made me lose my voice. Jz imagine la, the length between my bed n the floor is superb long ( on my bed itself gt 2 matresses de).. Luckily there was no serious injury. I managed 2 gt up frm my bed la. My sister oso nt around tat time.. haizz.. byk suei la!
During exam week i kept myself isolated frm everyone, but nt really isolated la.. I still socialize but nt so siao as b4.. hehehehehe.. 2day finally i finished my exam.. I'm so excited lol! Nw i can start planning 4 my holidays lio! 2mrw SPM results will b out.. So, i wish all the SPM students gud luck ya! Sleep well 2day. Dun worry so much ok! hahahahaha...
More like cloning, but tis one cloning on non-living thing.. hehehehe... Malaysia's Political Upheveal : The Street View [Extracted From Singapore News]
"We were concerned about the morality of our leaders. It didn't help that Chua Soi Lek was involved in a sex video." (Reporting by Niluksi Koswanage in Penang and Naveen Thukral in Kuala Lumpur; Writing by Bill Tarrant; ) - KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 - Malaysians woke to a new political era on Sunday, having given Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's ruling coalition the fright of its life and the opposition a chance to become a credible check on power.
Here are some comments from the street:
Kay Tze, 27, restaurant manager, Kuala Lumpur
"I expected the number of seats to be reduced, but this was unanticipated. I'm fearful the results would affect business ... There's a lot of uncertainty, but there's also a lot of hope."
Daniel Sia, 27, civil engineer, Kuala Lumpur
"I am shocked. It feels Malaysia is a whole new country. It feels like it has been reborn."
Rozan Rahim, 30-year-old manager, Kuala Lumpur
"I don't think PM should resign, not so soon at least. People learn from their mistakes and become better."
R.V. Samy, 65, newspaper vendor, Kuala Lumpur
"I am very happy that Samy Vellu has lost the election. He talked big and did nothing for the Indian community. People have taught him a lesson."
Siew Meng Mooi, food stall hawker, Penang
"I'm shocked that Penang has fallen. I am looking to the opposition to keep to their promise of making Penang a better place, but I am worried about PAS . I hope they didn't impose their Islam on the people."
K.K. Lim, businessman, Penang
"I only expected a strong opposition, not a clean sweep. The opposition alliance has not been tested out yet. Maybe at the bargaining table there might be problems. I think the bigger problem would be relations between the federal and the state governments."
Mohamad Isa Jaafar, 44, building contractor, Kuala Lumpur
"It is not good to have one-sided parliament. The ruling BN had become all too powerful and arrogant."
Manjit Kaur, 50, real estate agent, Kuala Lumpur
"The cabinet needed a reshuffle, people wanted to see new faces and that is why you see so many ministers have lost. With the opposition coming into parliament with so many seats, we can expect better decisions. Things will get better now."
Firdaus Abdullah, 25, teacher, Kuala Lumpur
"It has been a fair election. I am not shocked because BN failed to resolve many issues such as the prices of goods and fuel, and the issues affecting the Indian community."
Maisarah Zainal, 26, teacher, Kuala Lumpur

U've done a good job! Nw my taman oso under DAP de.. I'm sooo proud lol! cant explain hw happy i am when i gt this news frm my father.. K la.. gtg.. Till then, gudbye! ~Mosquicat Beez~
