Theory of Positive and Negative(Summarized frm thesis 3 YRP)

What is positive? What is negative? Related to maths? Nah~ forget abt maths.. on my point of view, positive means gud and negative means bad. A person with positive values when showered with negative values, they will eventually gt 'neutralized'.. and if u add more negative values into him/her they will slowly turn bad. This is a logical way of a human thinking. Tat's y a positive thinker will never gt influenced easily by their surroundings with one condition! they shud maintain their positive values as long as they are still alive~ They can therefore add more n more positive values into their daily lives.

On the other hand, a negative person will never have confidence in their abilities or sm might b prone to indulge themselves in unusually bad activities. If u add more negative values into this category of humans, they will eventually turn into a more bad person(eg. -7-23=-30). if u add lots n lots of positive values into this person, they will turn good(positive).. Simple maths can b applied.. for example -9+18=+9(positive value). I believe that devils can exist in many diff forms. tis is the category of a neutral person(-7+7=0).. u put in more positive values, they turn gud, but when u put in negative value, they turn bad.. logic? tis category of human is the most unstable of all being.

So, ppl.. pls be a POSITIVE THINKER OR EVEN BETTER, A POSITIVE PERSON!

The Snowball

Today in hand i held a snowball, a ball of ice that melted on my way back to my hostel. i guessed as much it wld melt in my very own warm palm. Hmmmmm... y is it so? thermal energy frm my hands? external environmental heat? Bio, Chem, or wateva, GO TO HELL! A Snowball resemble a human's heart. If heat is given to the snowball, it will eventually melt into water. A snowball resembles a cold heart, and is directly related to a cold-hearted person. If heat(love) is given to a cold hearted person they will cherish the warmth generated by u. The heat liberated will eventually melt their cold heart.

The water resembles the heat energy(love). A warm heart is a heart filled with love. Love is infinity. It can therefore shower a person to keep their hearts warm. The reign of a snowball ends as the water was eventually evaporated by the air. So it's possible to turn a bad person to a good person as long as u shower them with love.. ~THE END~

Cemashko Hospital-A Great Experience Indeed!

Monday(22nd September 2008)
Finally I began writing on this diary again. Dear diary, I’ve been a very strong person since the 1st day I was warded in this hospital which is more like a 2 hours journey away from my hostel on Metro. I’m in Russia! I’m in Russia! I’m in Russia! A country where I barely speak their language nor understand what they are trying to tell me. On Wednesday I had this horrible pain on my lower right abdomen. This pain has already been there since 3 weeks ago in Malaysia. Firstly, I went to see Dr. Chan to ask his opinion about this pain. He made several conclusion which could be intestinal twitching, appendicitis, gynaecological problem and etc. He told me not to take any painkiller and I should come back to his clinic after a couple of days.

Next, while I was at Giant hypermarket having lunch with my family, the pain arose. My father then decided that I should go for a second opinion. So, I went to Dr. Sohvindir’s clinic. He then did a urine test and the result was normal. No fever. His conclusion was SEATBELT INJURY! Ok! 1st time I hear this thing. The next day the pain subsided. So, I thought it was really seatbelt injury thus I did not pay much attention to the pain. I came to Russia on 16th of September 2008. In Malaysia, it is supposed to be Hari Malaysia. Hahahah! Never mind! Happy Birthday Malaysia. On 15th of September, right before my flight, I got a wonderful surprise by Tzer Yun, Shirley and Peter. They came and gave me a cute birthday cake! Oh My! I think that’s the best birthday surprise ever!

On my 1st day in Russia, the weather is kinda cold, about 7 degree celcius. Luckily I wore my winter clothing when I was at the airport. Everything was fine eventhough I do get bored at times and of course CULTURE SHOCK! That day it was all orientation and at night those seniors brought us to the Pakistani Russian shop near my hostel. The food was good. Shamu( more like our very own Malaysian kebab ) served in a western style with french fries and chili sauce. Itu harga pun banyak cantik! 220 rubles for my meal, that is equivalent to RM30. Walao! My hostel was kinda small, especially the bed. But that’s not my permanent room. The next day, it was our registration day. We woke up early in the morning and started our journey at 9.30am. Actually it was supposed to be 9am but because of one girl who did not turn up and caused havoc, it was delayed. Firstly, we took a bus to the metro station. The bus was not really crowded. It was a while when an old lady walked past me and my winter scarf got stuck to the button on her coat. He gave me a very stern look! OMG! Scary~ So, I just said sorry to her but she could not understand what I’m saying. Haizzz.. Russians…

The metro train looks old from the outside but trust me when you’re inside, you wouldn’t want to believe that you’re actually in a very old train, approximately 90++ years. The train was even faster than the MRT in Singapore. Cool! In the train, Yao Chuan sat beside me.

I went for surgery recently after the doctor diagnosed me for having cyst on my right ovary. It is just a minor surgery in Russia, but in Malaysia, it is a major surgery. There were 3 holes in this procedure:- lower right and left abdomen and my navel. On my first 2 days in hospital, Vicky(Vigneswaran) a 4th year student took care of me. He was extremely kind towards me. He even bought some snacks in case I don’t eat hospital food. Breakfast(zaftrakat) is my worst nightmare! Kasha(starchy mashed grains) without taste. Not even sweet or salty. There was this nice lady, a nurse who took care of me like her own granddaughter. She forced me to eat that kasha everyday when I was at the urological ward. At the hospital, my worst nightmare was communicating with those Russians. They will never speak even a word of English. One day, a doctor came to visit me. I was in great pain. So, I shouted “Pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” and that doctor just smiled and said dah svee dah nee yah(goodbye) and walked away. OMG! So cruel! Everyday, the nurses would jab me with antibiotics 3 times a day at my butt. That’s my worst experience ever! Till now I still suffer with the pain!

I was without glasses for 5 days in the hospital and it seems like guiding a blind woman to her destination. I went for X-ray 4 times(3 abdominal X-ray and 1 chest X-ray). I was on drips for 5 days to combat the pain on my lower right abdomen. Those nurses wld jab the same vein all over again till pecah rekod lio. 17 times on the same vein, last count! I went for 4 ultrasound. The cyst was detected during the 2nd ultrasound. It is a 8.5 cm round cyst. Everyday many of the seniors of RSMU would come to visit me (Li Fei, Shridar, Dalleen, Vicky, Chatichai, Yunn Min, betty, Melissa, Karine,Soo ying, ah bong, and many more). 2 days before my surgery, Chai and his friend, another Chinese guy came to visit me and they stayed there quite long until 8.30pm(visiting hours is frm 4.30-6.30pm). They got scolded by the guard at the exit. Haizzz.. Pity them! Chai helped me to ask the nurse for sanitary pad since the nurse can’t understand what I’m saying. Unfortunately, the nurse got shocked and started laughing. A guy asking for sanitary pad.. Weird.. On Sunday I was supposed to fast, tat means no dinner but only can drink water. The nxt day, I was supposed to go for endoscopy. I vomited during the entire procedure that my face turned blue. Luckily I did not faint and got back to my room coughing non stop for hours. Suddenly the nurse came in and gave me one medicine. Taste more like the minyak masak plus other funny ingredients. So I was cursing the nurse using BM eventhough my BM was horrible. On Monday night, I fasted again because the nxt day was my surgery. In the morning, the nurse woke me up early to insert enema to clear my bowels. It was a painful procedure but I managed to endure the pain. I was pushed to the operation theatre at 11.30am. At the OT, Dr. Vladimir(anesthesiologist) and Dr. Irina(gynaecologist) was already there waiting for me. I lay on the bed naked and the nurse inserted the cateter into my urinary passage. I was screaming in pain for a while and managed to calm myself dwn after that. Dr. Vladimir then put the oxygen mask and I started sleeping. The surgery lasted for less than an hour. When I woke up, I was pushed to the ICU for recuperation for 3 hours. I was kinda hyperactive at the ICU that I cant stop moving my legs. One doctor came n bla bla in Russian language. I just kept quiet cz I cant talk with the oxygen mask on. I started singing those TVXQ songs to past time. After 3 hours, I was pushed back to my ward at the gynaecological dept. The 1st person I saw was Dalleen and then Shridar. They rushed to the hospital after class.

The nurse then told me not to move much for one day. I was extremely bored on the bed and I lost my voice too because of the anesthetic. The nxt day, the nurse came in very early in the morning to check on me. I was dying to go to the toilet so I told the nurse , “toilet” and she walked away smiling. Zadao! So I woke up all by myself and started walking. I was in great pain but I told myself to be strong. After 3 days I was discharged frm the hospital. Phewwww… Wat a relief! Now I realized that the things that keeps me strong was my sweet memories in Nilai and also those silly things I did in hospital;/ for eg, I broke the glass rack at the toilet. Aiyo…

Malaysian govt declares by-election defeat to Anwar

Malaysia's ruling coalition on Tuesday declared defeat in a by-election against opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim who will return to parliament after a decade-long absence.

"Yes of course we have lost... we were the underdogs going into this race," said Muhammad Muhammad Taib, information chief of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) which leads the Barisan Nasional coalition.

Anwar's Keadilan party, which leads a three-member opposition alliance, claimed a "landslide" victory. It said Anwar had garnered at least 65 percent of the ballot and that the figure could rise as high as 70 percent.

"We declare victory, the margin is very huge," said Keadilan information chief Tian Chua.

Muhammad said UMNO had been hampered by internal disagreement over the choice of its candidate in the by-election, Arif Shah Omah Shah, and was distracted by upcoming internal leadership polls.

"There are factors that we have to be practical about but this does not mean that he is enjoying full support elsewhere in the country," he told AFP.

"He is the winner here because this is his hometown and the timing of the elections is to his advantage because UMNO's party polls will be held in a month."

Muhammad also dismissed talk that the victory would help Anwar oust the government with the help of defecting lawmakers, after landmark March general elections that handed the opposition unprecedented gains.

"I don't think so. In the last general election the people gave the Barisan Nasional the mandate to rule, so if the opposition wants to form a government they will have to wait for the next general election."

Anwar wins crucial by-election by overwhelming margin

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has won a crucial by-election that will see his return to parliament after a decade long absence, according to news reports.

Reuters and Channel News Asia have reported that Ibrahim won the Pemantang Pauh seat, in his home state of Penang, by a large margin of over 16,000 votes. Malaysia Kini has also reported that the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition have conceded the by-election.

The contested seat was held by Ibrahim's wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail during his political exile after he was sacked in 1998 and jailed on charges of sodomy and corruption. She stood aside, triggering a by-election, in the latest step of the opposition leader's plan to topple the government with the help of defectors from the ruling party.

The 10-day campaign leading up to the by-election was weighed down by allegations of misdeeds coming from both sides.

The opposition accused the government of running an intensely negative campaign that focused on the new sodomy charges leveled against Ibrahim and playing on the rift between the different ethic groups in the country.

This by-election poll was seen as the ultimate gage for how far the charges of sexual misconduct had taken a toll on Ibrahim's public image.

Days before voting opened the Merdeka Centre research firm said Anwar would likely claim victory in the Permatang Pauh electorate, but that new sodomy allegations against him were a factor in the campaign.

Exit polls indicated that Ibrahim had a steady lead before voting closed. But with traffic congested around the polling stations and bad weather, doubts were cast over the accuracy of exit poll figures.

After the March elections that handed the opposition control of five states and a third of parliamentary seats, he has to persuade 30 lawmakers to switch sides from the ruling coalition in order to gain the majority needed to form a new government.

Doctor of Medicine degree

Doctor of Medicine (M.D. or MD, from the Latin Medicinæ Doctor meaning "Teacher of Medicine,") is a doctoral degree for physicians.

How the term MD is applied varies between countries - it is a first professional degree in some countries, for example in the USA and Canada, while in some countries it is a higher doctoral academic research degree resembling a PhD, for example in the United Kingdom, Australia and Germany.[1] In the UK and countries following the British model, the equivalent of the American MD degree is the MBChB or MBBS ("Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery"

History of the medical degree
According to Sir John Bagot Glubb, Syed Farid Alatas, and S. M. Imamuddin, the first medical schools to issue academic degrees and diplomas were the Bimaristan teaching hospitals of the medieval Islamic world. The first of these institutions was opened in Baghdad during the time of Harun al-Rashid. They then appeared in Egypt from 872 and then in Islamic Spain, Persia and the Maghreb thereafter. Physicians and surgeons at these hospital-universities gave lectures on Islamic medicine to medical students and then a medical diploma or degree was issued to students who were qualified to be practicing physicians.[2][3][4]

According to Douglas Guthrie,[5] who bases his account on L Thorndike,[6] medical men were first called "Doctor" at the Medical School of Salerno. He states that the Emperor Frederick II decreed in 1221 that no one should practice medicine until he had been publicly examined and approved by the masters of Salerno. The course lasted 5 years, and to start one had to be 21 years old and show proof of legitimacy and of three years study of logic. The course was followed by a year of supervised practice. After the laureation ceremony the practitioners could call themselves "magister" or "doctor."

United States and Canada
The MB or Bachelor of Medicine was also the first type of medical degree to be granted in the United States and Canada. The first medical schools that granted the MB degree were Penn, Harvard, Toronto, Maryland, and Columbia. These first few North American medical schools that were established were (for the most part) founded by physicians and surgeons who had been trained in England and Scotland. University medical education in England culminated with the MB qualification, and in Scotland the MD, until from the mid-19th century the public bodies who regulated medical practice at the time required practitioners in Scotland as well as England to hold the two the dual Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees (MB BS/MBChB/MB BChir/BM BCh etc). North American Medical schools switched to the tradition of the Ancient universities of Scotland and began granting the MD title rather than the MB mostly throughout the 1800s. Columbia University in New York (which at the time was referred to as King's College of Medicine) was the first American University to grant the MD degree instead of the MB.[3]

Within the United States, MDs are awarded by LCME-accredited medical schools.[7][8][9]. The Liaison Committee on Medical Education is an independent body sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges and the American Medical Association, the AMA.

Admissions to medical schools in the United States are competitive, with 17,800 of the approximately 47,000 applicants matriculating to a medical school. Before graduating from a medical school and achieving the degree of Medical Doctor, students have to pass the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 and to take (but not necessarily pass) both the Clinical Knowledge and Clinical Skills parts of Step 2. The MD degree is typically earned in four years. Following the awarding of the MD, physicians who wish to practice in the United States are required to complete at least one internship year (PGY-1) and pass the USMLE Step 3. In order to receive Board Eligible or Board Accredited status in a specialty of medicine such as general surgery or internal medicine, then undergo additional specialized training in the form of a residency. Those who wish to further specialize in areas such as cardiology or interventional radiology then complete a fellowship. Depending upon the physician's chosen field, residencies and fellowships involve an additional three to eight years of training after obtaining the MD. This can be lengthened with additional research years, which can last one, two, or more years.

In Canada, the MD is the basic medical degree required to practice medicine. At McGill University in Montreal, M.D., C.M. (Medicinae Doctor et Chirurgiae Magister or a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery sometimes also written MDCM) degrees are awarded.

Even though the MD is a first professional degree and not a doctorate of research (ie. PhD), many holders of the MD degree conduct clinical and basic scientific research and publish in peer-reviewed journals during training and after graduation. Medical Scientist Programs are offered at many universities which are a combined medical degree and PhD. Some MDs choose a research career and receive funding from the NIH as well as other sources such as the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. A few even go on to become Nobel Laureates.[
Equivalent Degrees
The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees (MB BS or MB ChB, and several variants) are equivalent to the North American MD degree.
The American osteopathic medical degree (DO) has identical training requirements and practice rights as the MD degree.[10]
Further information: Comparison of the MD and DO degrees
In most European countries, but not the UK, Ireland, Italy and Austria, the title Dr. may be used only after obtaining a doctorate (such as a PhD or MD). This holds for medicine as for all other professions.
In Germany medical students have to complete twelve semesters of study and pass two state examinations (the first one after two years) to become physicians. A research doctorate (PhD) can be obtained at some universities after three to five years of additional studies and research.
In Germany physicians can obtain the degree "Dr. med., Doktor der Medizin" A candidate must submit a dissertation consisting of a suitable body of original academic research. A candidate also must defend this work before a panel of expert examiners appointed by the university. The dissertation has to be published.
The Czech and Slovak title doktor medicíny, or MUDr. (Medicinae Universae doctor), are equivalent to the North American MD degree.
The Poles, instead of the North American MD, use the title of lekarz medycyny (lek. med.; compare to lekarz weterynarii - a title obtained by graduates of the veterinary degree). What may be confusing for the British is that most of the Polish medical schools, which run English-taught units of the medical degree, translate this title as "MD" and not "MBBS". However, the Polish School of Medicine (Polish Medical Faculty) at the University of Edinburgh, which operated from 1941 to 1949, awarded both British degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) and a Polish Dyplom Lekarza on the same bilingual Latin-Polish certificate to 227 students. Of these, 19 progressed later to Doctor of Medicine (MD). [11] [12] [13]
The Norwegian Candidatus medicinae or Candidata medicinae degrees (Cand.med.) are equivalent to the North American MD degree as determined by U.S. state medical boards.
In Mexico as well as most Latin American countries, schools of medicine award the "Titulo de Medico Cirujano" degree after 7 years of study. The Mexican "Titulo" is equivalent to the North American MD degree according to the ECFMG. The medical curriculum in Mexico follows the European model of medical education which includes 5 years of study covering the basic and clinical sciences, an undergraduate rotating internship year, and a year of social service providing primary care to an underserved population. Physicians holding the Mexican "Titulo" degree who practice medicine in the USA or Canada use the designation "MD" after their name.
IMGs (International medical graduate) or FMGs (Foreign Medical Graduates), who practice medicine in the United States may use the title MD. They can do so only if they have passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) exams, and satisfied any other legal requirements administered by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) as specified under Public Law 94-484, as amended.
United Kingdom, Ireland and some Commonwealth countries
In the United Kingdom and Ireland (and many Commonwealth countries) the MD is a postgraduate research degree in medicine. At some universities, this takes the form of a first doctorate, analogous to the PhD, awarded upon submission of a thesis and a successful viva. The thesis may consist of new research undertaken on a full- or part-time basis, with much less supervision (in the UK) than for a PhD, or a portfolio of previously-published work (see, for example, [5]).

At some other universities (especially older institutions such as Oxford and Cambridge) the MD is a higher doctorate (similar to a DSc) awarded upon submission of a portfolio of published work representing a substantial contribution to medical research.[1].

In the case where the MD is awarded (either as a first or higher doctorate) for previously-published research, the candidate is usually required to be either a graduate or a full-time member of staff, of several years' standing of the university in question (see, for example, [6]).

The University of Buckingham [7], the only private university in Great Britain, has announced an Indian-style two year full-time taught course for a "Clinical MD" in internal medicine. This is designed for non-European Union graduates, who are no longer to be allowed to take accredited training posts in UK hospitals. This degree will be awarded first in 2010.

The entry-level professional degree in these countries for the practice of medicine is that of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or MBChB). This degree typically requires between four and six years of study and clinical training, and is equivalent to the North American MD.

[edit] Other postgraduate clinical degrees
There is also a similar advanced professional degree to the postgraduate MD: the Master of Surgery (usually ChM or MS, but MCh in Ireland, Wales and at Oxford and MChir at Cambridge).

In Ireland, where the basic medical qualification includes a degree in obstetrics, there is a similar higher degree of Master of the Art of Obstetrics (MAO).

India, Pakistan and Argentina
In India, an MD is a higher postgraduate degree awarded by many medical colleges to medical graduates holding the MBBS degree {MBBS degree course has a duration of five and a half years}, after three years of study and passing an examination which includes both theory and practical, in a pre-clinical or clinical subject of a non-surgical nature. The original research element is not as prominent here, as this is primarily a clinical qualification resembling the professional doctorates of the USA. In surgery, orthopaedics and gynaecology the equivalent degree is Master of Surgery (MS). DNB(Diplomate of the National Board))is considered equivalent to MD and MS.This can be obtained by passing an exam conducted by national board of examinations after completing 3 years post MBBS training in hospitals recognised by the board. After obtaining the first post graduate degree, that is MD/MS/DNB, one can go for further specialisation in medical or surgical fields. This requires three years of hard training and study and then passing an examination, both theory and practical, and the degree awarded is DM (Doctorate in Medicine, superspeciality) eg DM in Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology etc. For surgical subspecialities the degree awarded is MCh, eg MCh (Cardiac Surgery), MCh (Neurosurgery) etc.The DM or MCh degrees are equivalent to the Fellowship training in the US and are considered "post-doctoral" degrees in India, similar to the PhD.

In Pakistan an MBBS is awarded as the basic medical qualification after completing five/six years of study. Tough entry tests are passed successfully before entering in to a medical college. Medical colleges and foreign medical qualifications are supervised by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). Specialized degrees are awarded by the Pakistan College of Physicians and Surgeons.

In Argentine the medical degree Título de Médico[14] are equivalent to the North American M. D. Degree with 6 year of intensive theoric studies followed by three years of the Residencia as a Mayor Especialidad in a particular empiric field, compounded of internships, social services and sporadic research.

DBSK-Midhuyo(translated version)

[Micky]
Girl, Let me prove that my love is real
I'll give all my love to you, Please Trust me

[Xiah]
I believe...I believe that one can fall in love at first sight
Though I told you that it wasn't possible
I only hid this thought from you because I was afraid
That you would look at me as if I was careless and hasty.

[Max]
To tell the truth, ever since I met you
I only lived with thoughts of you.
There was only one thing on my mind
From when I woke up in the morning
Till when I went to bed at night.

*[All]
I believe in you...
I will send all my feelings for you through the the way I look at you.
Do you know how my heart feels?
How I want to keep the feelings I have for you hidden?
Even the fearful feelings for when you might leave me one day.

[Hero] You...

[Micky]
Love is a nervous feeling that flutters your heart...
It is like a breathtaking loneliness...

[U-Know]
Please keep looking at me with the same eyes...
Always and forever like this.

[Xiah]
If only you could stay close enough to me so that my heart can relax...
Just so that I could see you...I would be very happy.

*Repeat

[Xiah] You...

[Hero]
If I could stay by your side like this...
If, in the end, it is that I don't know anything about how much I love you.

*Repeat

[Micky]
I can't let you go
You are the only one in my life

Simple Life Vacation... Why is it so important to me?

All this while i've been thinking a lot! trust me! i can go crazy if i cont to do so~ therefore, i made a decision to just explore my actual characteristic through vacation. I'm x going 2 go tat far also.. It is just my grandmother's house. Why did i choose her house in the 1st place? hmmmm... u see, when i stayed there last time, no one managed 2 contact me(actually i switched off my phone). Secondly, there's no internet connection in her house.. so, no monkeys can disturb me during my vacation. with this i can then enjoy a peaceful life. I need some time to think over about my future, and my actual ambition before i embark into my journey n destiny in russia.

This yr i x not take part in the young researcher's programme,so it's jx a dull me.. understand? last year i went on a crazy research mission on studying human characteristics. hahaha.. i gained lots of things u noe!

Another reason for this vacation is to escape for a couple of days from my house. You see, for the past few days, my dad has been nagging n nagging at me till i cant take it anymore. I cry everyday and that really messed up with my health condition. Bcz of that i thinked too much...eg: wat wld happen on the way 2 russia? plane crash? shot by terrorists? murdered by someone? furthermore, there's war in russia right nw.. u see, ppl surrounding me are my greatest fear. I did not even dare to socialize with my neighbours cz when i tell them smthing, the one hearing it will mushroom quickly tat the whole of my neighbourhood will discover my story... ah.. so lame....

I realized that in order to b a successful doctor, i must be emotionally stable.. but nw, i can say tat i'm x ready at all! i gt less than one mth to motivate myself and to prepare myself physically n mentally as well. during my vacation, my aim is to be a normal girl, doing daily chores besides experimenting on myself in a more traditional way. the use of electronic devices are strictly prohibited during my entire vacation. I might even switch off my phone that none of u can contact me. But that is still in consideration. Dont worry... i'll switch on my phone when necessary.

During my vacation, i'll emphasize in learning to survive on basic needs. Luxury is x a necessity as all the basic needs are there, it wld definately be a great vacation tat i will nvr 4gt for the rest of my life. It is only a 3 days 2 nights vacation which will begin on 20/8/2008 till 22/8/2008. During my stay i will utilize wateva i have in hand to make my research a success. Moreover, i will then have more time to finish my scholarship essay and those ideas can then be generated till the max.. Ok.. lets nt elaborate more... tat's all i can comment on my vacation. To gt further info on my vacation, kindly SMS me... Dah svee dah nee yah and see u again on friday night... take care my dear friends.

P.S. : I'd like 2 apologize for my language used.. actually i did this in a very sleepy mood.. miahne!

1. Get married after about two years of courtship

Researchers say that if a couple's courtship is average in length -- around two years, four months -- there is less chance of divorce. Couples who rush to the altar, as well as couples who drag their feet to the altar, have an increased risk for divorce. "The couples who are slowest to marry tend to be the quickest to split," according to Ted Huston, Ph.D.

2. Rethink living together

Living together before marriage is more popular than ever and it stands to reason that you might want to take someone for a "test drive" around your living space before you commit to marriage. However, research doesn't support this. Couples who live together before marriage have a higher risk of divorce.

3. Wait until you are a little older to marry

Statistics show that if you marry after age 25, your marriage will have a much better chance.

4. Talk about the big issues before you get married

How many kids do you both want? How will you handle your finances? It's important to clarify these questions before the honeymoon. Premarital education or counseling can help with this. Studies show that those who go through this process have higher levels of marital satisfaction and more commitment to their spouses.

5. You can argue, just don't let it turn into World War III

Arguing is a natural part of a relationship and in and of itself does not predict divorce. However, the way you argue does. Researchers Gottman and Levenson say they can predict divorce by watching how negative a couple gets with each other, as well as how many constructive, positive interactions they have during an argument. Things to avoid when arguing: criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling. Learn to tone down heated arguments with humor and a few kind words.

6. Do stuff together

Yes, you both need to have your own individual interests. However, if you take this too far you may start to lead separate lives and grow apart, like if he spends every Saturday golfing and she spends every Saturday swimming. Learn to reconnect by taking part in a hobby or activity that you both enjoy. Also important: Take time for intimacy even when it seems like you don't have a minute to spare. Forms of intimacy like massage and cuddling are wonderful ways to bring you closer together.

7. Share the chores

If one person does the majority of the housework while the other slacks off, that's a recipe for divorce.

8. Be as polite to each other as you are to strangers

Sometimes we treat the people we love most with the least amount of respect without even realizing it. Ask yourself, "Do I treat friends, acquaintances, coworkers, and even strangers nicer than I do my significant other?"Take time to give each other compliments and remember to say "please" and "thank you" rather than barking orders or nagging.

9. Have issues? Get help!

Is one of you suffering from depression? Does one of you have substance abuse issues? Has one of you cheated? If you don't address these types of issues individually as well as a couple, you dramatically increase your divorce risk. Take steps to decrease your divorce risk now by addressing these issues through counseling and other means!

10. Marry someone who wants to be married

It seems obvious, but it's really not, since so many people ignore it. If you have to beg, cajole, manipulate, and hurl ultimatums at someone before they will agree to marry you, common sense says they probably don't want to be married. If you think something is going to change when you get that ring on their finger, you're wrong. Don't set yourself up for failure. Find somebody who wants the same things you want!

One lost shoe and a good explaination,
The spilled hot coffee and stale tears too,
Girl tell me little lie,
Please tell me a little lie,
Loud enough that I can hear you,
But you just softly slipped away,
Long way people,
Long way people,
That’s right,
You were unaware that day, just talking,
Long way people,
Long way people,
Just crying,
Crying, crying
I have to forget,
Still hurting on this road to you,
That you’re no longer on,
We still kiss… goodbye,
Girl tell me little lie,
Please tell me little lie,
Loud enough for me to hear you,
Now the snow piles up, enveloping me,
Long way people,
Long way people,
That’s right,
We were unaware that day, just talking,
Long way people,
Long way people,
Just……..
Crying.. crying.. crying…
I have to forget,
I’m alright,
Blurred in memories,
My tears ( will dry ),
My heart,
Like the countless stars,
Long way people,
Long way people,
Just,
Crying, crying, crying….
I have to forget (long way people)
Long way people,
I know, you will live in my heart forever,
Long way people, Long way people,
Just… Crying, crying, crying….
We still kiss..
Goodbye…

From the very Beginning, the girl's
family objected strongly on her dating this guy.
Saying that it has got to do with
family background,& that the girl
will have to suffer for the rest of
her life if she were to be with him.
Due to family's pressure, the couple
quarrel very often. Though the girl love the guy deeply, but she always ask him: "How deep is your love for me?"
As the guy is not good with his words,
this often cause the girl to be very upset. With that & the family's pressure, the girl often vent her
anger on him. As for him, he only
endure it in silence. After a couple of years, the guy finally graduated & decided to further his studies in
overseas. Before leaving, he proposed
to the girl: "I'm not very good with words. But all I know is that I love you. If you allow me, I will take care
of you for the rest of my life. As for
your family, I'll try my best to talk them round. Will you marry me?"
The girl agreed, & with the guy's
determination, the family finally gave in & agreed to let them get married. So before he leave, they got engaged.
The girl went out to the working
society, whereas the guy was overseas,
continuing his studies. They sent their love through emails & phone calls. Though it's hard, but both never
thought of giving up. One day, while the girl was on her way to work, she was knocked down by a car that
lost control. When she woke up, she
saw her parents beside her bed. She realised that she was badly injured. Seeing her mum crying, she wanted
to comfort her. But she realized that
all that could come out of her mouth was just a sigh. She has lost her voice...... The doctors says that the impact on her brain has caused her to lose her voice. Listening to her parents' comfort, but with nothing
coming out from her, she broke down.
During the stay in hospital, besides
silence cry,.....it's still just silence cry that companied her. Upon reaching home, everything seems to be the same. Except for the ringing
tone of the phone. Which pierced into
her heart everytime it rang. She does not wish to let the guy know. & not wanting to be a burden to him,
she wrote a letter to him saying that
she does not wish to wait any longer.
With that, she sent the ring back to
him. In return, the guy sent millions &
millions of reply, and countless of phonecalls,..all the girl could do, besides crying, is still crying....
The parents decided to move away,
hoping that she could eventually forget
everything & be happy. With a new environment, the girl learn
sign language & started a new life. Telling herself everyday that she must forget the guy. One day, her friend came & told her that he's back.
She asked her friend not to let him
know what happened to her. Since then, there wasn't anymore news of him.
A year has passed & her friend came
with an envelope, containing an invitation card for the guy's wedding. The girl was shattered. When she open the letter, she saw her name in it
instead. When she was about to ask her friend what's going on, she saw the guy standing in front of her. He used sign language telling her "I've spent
a year's time to learn sign language.
Just to let you know that I've not forgotten our promise. Let me have the chance to be your voice. I Love You.
With that, he slipped the ring back
into her finger. The girl finally smiled

Avoid These Dieting Practices...[extracted frm Yahoo Health]

Many of us start putting on the pounds when life gets too busy to fit in exercise. Sure we're busy with the demands of work and family but those don't necessarily get our muscles fired up and heart pumping effectively to burn lots of calories.

The same time constraints often lead us to choose easy, fast food options which are often loaded with fat and calories. Isn't it easier to grab a burger or bagel than to take the time to prepare healthier, lower-calorie meals?

Then there are those milestones in our lives that tend to translate into extra pounds - like pregnancy, the "freshman 15" (gaining 15 pounds) early in college, and the slowdown in metabolism around menopause.

Bottom line: Day after day, calories consumed outweigh those burned, which translates into pounds on our hips and thighs.

We feel pressured to lose the added pounds when we learn about the health risks associated with obesity like heart disease and diabetes. Likely you've heard from a health professional or a family member that you ought to lose weight.

Yet who among us can measure up to the unrealistic standards of body weight presented to us by the media month after month in the endless parade of ultra-thin models and celebrities that grace the covers of nearly every woman's magazine?

Making the right diet choices may seem difficult, and sometimes we may be tempted to take shortcuts that could be unhealthy or even dangerous over the long term. We allow ourselves to get hooked by diet fads because they can often deliver a quick initial drop in weight (which of course then creates an addictive, positive-feedback loop that encourages us to continue the unhealthy behaviors).

You may already know which dangerous diet techniques I'm referring to, but let's run through a few:

Purging (vomiting) after a meal
Starvation
Laxative abuse
Diuretic abuse
Stimulant abuse
Why are these practices dangerous? It's all about maintaining the chemical balance within our bodies. Our blood, for example, has a perfect balance of salts such as sodium, potassium, and calcium, and these substances must all be in just the right amounts if our hearts are to pump normally and our muscles to contract.

Our bodies also maintain a strict balance of acids and their chemical opposites, bases, an equilibrium that is reflected in a value called the pH. Changes in pH influence the balance of salts in the body. All of the diet techniques listed above can cause dramatic losses of potassium, stomach acid, and bicarbonate (a base). One of the frightening consequences such behaviors may lead to is an irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia), which is associated with cardiac arrest and death.

Here are some other common problems these dieting methods may cause:

Damage to the tooth enamel when stomach acid is forced out through the mouth during vomiting.
Cramping and diarrhea due to laxative use.
An inability to achieve regular bowel movements without resorting to laxatives.
Jitteriness, sleep difficulties, and heart palpitations caused by some of the dieting products containing stimulants. (The stimulant Fen-phen-fenfluramine and phentermine-was banned in the United States after it was associated with heart damage and deaths, primarily among women.)
The breakdown and ingestion of muscle during starvation, as the body tries to use its own substance to provide essential nutrients to the brain, thus counteracting any beneficial effects of a diet.
An increasing risk of osteoporosis as long-term indulgence in such diets depletes calcium from the bones.
So, for a lifetime of health and fitness, go with what's been proven to work: follow a diet that's low in simple carbohydrates and saturated fats, and balance it with increased physical activity.

It may take a few months to start seeing results, but with patience and a commitment to your overall well being, you'll eventually get to enjoy the sustained benefits of this healthier approach over many years.

Junsu maintains order and balance in the group when they face difficulty. Possibly because of his long 6 year training, he is very empathetic and thinks a lot about people's feelings. He plays the piano well and is very poetic,he enjoys writing poems. One of his dreams in life is to have his writing published into a book. One of his motivations in his singing career is the unachieved dream of his mother who once dreamed of being a star. He wanted to become an athlete. In group, there is a member who gets support from girls who were former Miss Koreas. Why? Because Su’s mom is a former Miss Korea. I guess Su got his pretty and delicate looks from his mom. Su was known in his junior high years to be a good singer. In the morning gatherings, when Su sang the school song, it went throunh the speakers and was heard by the whole school. But Su wanted to be a athlete. He was in the baseball and soccer team and he still likes sport now. But after he saw H.O.T on TV,his dream was to “sing on stage”

finally... IT"S HOLIDAY! Yeaaaahhhhh!!! I'm lovin' it![extracted frm my private blog(11/3/2008)]

Sorry 4 nt blogging 4 a long tm... I was kinda busy since i 1st stepped into Nilai International University College... It's a very long story hw i actually rejected the state gov scholarship.. Weird huh? Let's make it simple k! at the 11th hour, i've gt no choice but the make this tough decision to reject the scholarship eventhough it seems "luxurious", yala, so called luxurious. Being a doctor is no joke ok! Nw i decided 2 pursue my 1st choice which is to be a forensic specialist.. I'm currently studying diploma in medical laboratory technology. Kinda new 2 me, but nt 2 all of u blog readers la.. Hehehehe... when i 1st came here,. i fell in love with my campus. The environment here is superb beautiful, like in a paradise.. awwww... I love it sooo much lol!

On my 1st day in campus, my whole family was here( me, my parents n my sis). Den v settle those registration thing lor. Elynn was the one who guided us thru all these registration process.. Kinda nice lady lol! Guys, wanna pikat? huhuhuhuhu... Joking la!HAHAHAHA... Mr. Jeffrey was away in Sri Lanka, so, Elynn was the one who settle ma.. The worst thing is me n my sis was merely mistaken 4 a guy!OMG! Gender blind o wat arh!? Isk.. isk.. isk.. reminds me 2 siraj who mistaken Sze Kuan for a guy during LCC(Leo Charity COncert) last yr.. hahahahahahaha... gr8 joke la!

On the 1st day itself i missed lesson lio bcz i didnt notice the timetable which is attached 2gther with my brochure.. hahahaha.. wat 2 do.. aku ni mmg blurr.. The nxt day oso i gt class( my very 1st class la..).. Den still blurrr.... ya la.. 1st day ma.. i'm oso nt used 2 the campus.. My 1st class was Immunology at R405SL(Science Lab). A very big lab, i mean, bigger than those labs in schools... ahahahahahaha..

My life here, one word 2 describe~~FUN! Every morning hv 2 wake up at 6.30 am, except on weekends la.. den my breakfast is only a cup of milk(kinda saturated lol..). The reason i wake up early is to take a bath b4 anyone does! huhuhu... The water heater oni gt one unit(tat means only one toilet with water heater! OMG!).. Another reason is to enjoy a relaxing bath w/o having to smell the smoke frm the cigarettes! Those China gals nxt door r smokers u noe! haizz...

In class, as usual, after each practical, ppl will start to 'book' my practical like booking concert tickets or even clone my practical.. actually i dun encourage tis kinda thing, especially DMLT students where they'll hv 2 do lots of practical. If kept on cloning my practical oso wont benefit them la.. I hope u knw wat i meant. Isk... isk.. isk.. I tot those monkeys were oni looking at it for an example.. but tis wan, adoi! copy oso bulat-bulat.. More like cloning, but tis one cloning on non-living thing.. hehehehe... One day, i found out tat tis monkey lost my practical! OMG! The original copy summore... luckily i printed xtra copy. I dun wan 2 reveal the person 4 some gud purpose la.. miahne!

Mac Centre is the only shop in my campus tat offers photocopying service.. so, they kinda like monopolying the students la.. The price is superb "low" u noe.. masuk kedai ada duit, keluar kedai habis pokai! tat day i bind my assignment n it costs me RM3 per assignment..if my assignment is thick, i dun mind. tis wan is superb thin, i think thinner than my class mag! I did binding 4 times, n u knw la empat kali tiga, jadi dua belas! haizzz... i jx add another 10 pieces paper n re-bind, n tat costs me another RM3..

Another problematic shop is our so called ONE STOP SHOP which sells groceries la.. I seldom buy things frm there, unless i'm in desperate need of junk food n some snacks.. The food sold at the canteen is delicious, but imagine if u're eating the same old food everyday! gt once i even starved for half a day cz when i thinked abt the food sold at the canteen, NO APPETITE LIO..! Pete's Kitchen is the only shop tat sells western food at a very reasonable price. Believe me tat the chicken chop is sooo much better compared 2 Amigo.. The Pete punya sebelah is an Indian shop, also the only indian shop in my campus.. the food sold here is extremely miserable n then when come to paying 4 the food, terus pengsan! The normal meal tat i alwiz eat in melaka costs abt RM6++, whereas in melaka it only costs RM3.50. There r quite a number of Malay stalls, but fortunately, equally as many as those Chinese stalls. Normally i'll buy economy rice cz gt vege ma n oso quite cheap, except the chinese economy rice. Really cut throat la! Imagine 2day u pay RM3.50 for ur meal. Den the nxt trip, u took the same thing but u ended up paying RM4.00.. within a few days can increase tat much arh? adoi! petrol price hike oso nt so jialat till like tis ma!

Den the two most popular chinese stalls were the Fried Rice Corner n another stall which sells wantan mee.. tat's y i normally go n gt my lunch bfore 12pm to avoid unnecessary "traffic congestion".. Star Baker is the only luxurious coffee shop in my campus(air conditioned cafe)... U can alwiz see lecturers eating there during their lunch break, especially my Madam Gaya! huhuhu... At my campus u can see a large community of BLACKS! No joke! blacks! In my class itself gt 2 blacks lio.. one is Franklin(Toke) n the other one is Peter... But if i observe their attitude, i think Peter is better than Frank de.. Frank seems 2 b kinda vulgar at times, especially when he started using the four letter word! apa la! Everywhere u go in the college, u can see at least one of these 'creatures'.. They r here 2 waste money by partying n etc.. nt to study! If u ask mr. sam abt tis, he'll tell u the same thing..

Abt my lecturer, i'm satisfied with both of them. Mdm. Gayathery Subramaniam(Rajavenee's clone.. hehehehehe...) is my Basic Biochemistry n Immunology lecturer.. Kinda nice lecturer, but sometimes......haizz... dunno hw 2 explain la, especially when her mood swings! OMG! No wonder Mercury confessed that she's fierce.. hahahahaha.. Mr. Samsudin Bahari is our MLT head and our lecturer for Laboratory Equipment.. an easy subject tat anyone can master trust me! it's dealing with our understanding of the frequently used Laboratory Equipment.. Each time after lesson, i'll hv a short(or smtimes long) chat with him. hehehehe...

For tis sem, we're taking 3 major subjects:
Laboratory Equipment--MPAX 1114
Basic Biochemistry--MPAE 1113
Immunology--MPAI 1212

The most tiring day 4 most of us is Monday.. Cz v gt class at 8am till 12pm den 1pm to 3pm.. haizz... when 3pm all of us will look like one of those mummies in Egypt.. hahahahaha... the most interesting part of tis course is during practical.. I enjoyed myself experimenting on those colored solutions n using the colorimeter... I did broke a test tube, but luckily nt like in IJC where they gt tis concept of 'U BREAK, U PAY!' hahahahaha... Luckily Mr. Samsudin is nice enough 2 smile at me when i told him abt tis matter... Am i naughty? Yesss... whuahaahhahahahahaha!!!!!!

In the lab, of cz need 2 wear labcoat la.. o nt, v will b forbidden frm doing any experiments.. unlike in schools where v jx need 2 b ourself(tat means wear school uniform la.. ). If the solution spill on ur uniform, den GOD BLESS U! Muahahahahah!!! The library in Nilai is equivalent to 'pasar malam' where u can hear ppl talking loudly w/o thinking of others.. There was a day where i went there 2 study after class. den tis gp of 4 Indian ppl were talking superb loud. Luckily i was nice enuf 2 tell them to lower dwn their voices.. But oni lasts for less than 5 minutes! Arrrrggghhhhhh!!! I was a librarian b4 in 2ndary school. so, i will feel annoyed when ppl make sooo much noise in the library. Seriously, those monkeys gt no common sense! The books here nt bad la.. Gt those medical books tat really interest me.. huhuhu...

Tis yr, i gt a wonderful Valentine cz i did my midterm Immuno at Mdm. gayathery's office! Whuahahahaa... At night i was busy but i still took a stroll at the campus(HC Block).. I went there 2 play badminton with my sister.. hehehe... Den on the way, i can see ppl, especially boys n gals walking around having their valentine moments. Some gals were crying.. dunno 4 wat oso.. Siao! hahahahaha..

In my room, the temperature at night is equivalent to Genting highlands outdoor theme park! Very cold huh? no joke ok! if it's raining den will b worse de.. I'd becum an eskimo by covering myself with my blankets while walking in my room.. Luckily it is nt air conditioned or i'll b a FROZEN CAT! The main prob is my apartment is surrounded by trees! even in the afternoon, u cant see the sun.

Smtimes at night i can hear ppl talking loudly dwnstairs like their bapak punya apartment! so annoying! there was this night where those indian ppl having party at the president's hall. Aiyo! i cant even study u noe! Luckily tis event is nt on a weekly basis, or i'll definately move out de!

a few weeks ago, as i was sleeping soundly, i heard sm1 knock my door. Kinda eerie feeling. I gt so shocked tat i fell frm my bed n i sprained my legs n my left hand.. haizz.. nt 2 4gt, i oso knocked my head against the floor! very pain u noe.. den the nxt thing is my MSN gt ppl send msg.. Then i decided 2 ignore the sound frm the door n see who chat with me la.. It was Mercury.. adoi! I wanted to scream in pain but cant cz the pain made me lose my voice. Jz imagine la, the length between my bed n the floor is superb long ( on my bed itself gt 2 matresses de).. Luckily there was no serious injury. I managed 2 gt up frm my bed la. My sister oso nt around tat time.. haizz.. byk suei la!

During exam week i kept myself isolated frm everyone, but nt really isolated la.. I still socialize but nt so siao as b4.. hehehehehe.. 2day finally i finished my exam.. I'm so excited lol! Nw i can start planning 4 my holidays lio! 2mrw SPM results will b out.. So, i wish all the SPM students gud luck ya! Sleep well 2day. Dun worry so much ok! hahahahaha...

I dedicate tis wonderful video clip to all my frens who are alwiz supporting me day n night.. Enjoy lol.. Here's TVXQ-Magic Castle, a heavenly song...

Malaysia's Political Upheveal : The Street View [Extracted From Singapore News]

"We were concerned about the morality of our leaders. It didn't help that Chua Soi Lek was involved in a sex video." (Reporting by Niluksi Koswanage in Penang and Naveen Thukral in Kuala Lumpur; Writing by Bill Tarrant; ) - KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 - Malaysians woke to a new political era on Sunday, having given Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's ruling coalition the fright of its life and the opposition a chance to become a credible check on power.

Here are some comments from the street:

Kay Tze, 27, restaurant manager, Kuala Lumpur

"I expected the number of seats to be reduced, but this was unanticipated. I'm fearful the results would affect business ... There's a lot of uncertainty, but there's also a lot of hope."

Daniel Sia, 27, civil engineer, Kuala Lumpur

"I am shocked. It feels Malaysia is a whole new country. It feels like it has been reborn."

Rozan Rahim, 30-year-old manager, Kuala Lumpur

"I don't think PM should resign, not so soon at least. People learn from their mistakes and become better."

R.V. Samy, 65, newspaper vendor, Kuala Lumpur

"I am very happy that Samy Vellu has lost the election. He talked big and did nothing for the Indian community. People have taught him a lesson."

Siew Meng Mooi, food stall hawker, Penang

"I'm shocked that Penang has fallen. I am looking to the opposition to keep to their promise of making Penang a better place, but I am worried about PAS . I hope they didn't impose their Islam on the people."

K.K. Lim, businessman, Penang

"I only expected a strong opposition, not a clean sweep. The opposition alliance has not been tested out yet. Maybe at the bargaining table there might be problems. I think the bigger problem would be relations between the federal and the state governments."

Mohamad Isa Jaafar, 44, building contractor, Kuala Lumpur

"It is not good to have one-sided parliament. The ruling BN had become all too powerful and arrogant."

Manjit Kaur, 50, real estate agent, Kuala Lumpur

"The cabinet needed a reshuffle, people wanted to see new faces and that is why you see so many ministers have lost. With the opposition coming into parliament with so many seats, we can expect better decisions. Things will get better now."

Firdaus Abdullah, 25, teacher, Kuala Lumpur

"It has been a fair election. I am not shocked because BN failed to resolve many issues such as the prices of goods and fuel, and the issues affecting the Indian community."

Maisarah Zainal, 26, teacher, Kuala Lumpur

"We were concerned about the morality of our leaders. It didn't help that Chua Soi Lek was involved in a sex video." (Reporting by Niluksi Koswanage in Penang and Naveen Thukral in Kuala Lumpur; Writing by Bill Tarrant; )

Read tis article n u'll b amazed with the truth of our dear country.. Tis will eventually teach our M'sian gov a valuable lesson in the "Fair & Square" concept... Congratulations opposition party! U've done a good job! Nw my taman oso under DAP de.. I'm sooo proud lol! cant explain hw happy i am when i gt this news frm my father.. K la.. gtg.. Till then, gudbye! ~Mosquicat Beez~

DBSK-Hug(Very nice movie lol... watch out for Jae Joong! He's sooo handsome!)

American Idol (season 7) Tips, If u wan 2 b one! hahahaha.. enjoy reading lol!

Dos and Don'ts for 'Idol' Hopefuls
A handy checklist for what to do (and what not to do) if you want a shot at winning the show
By Larry Carroll
Special to MSN Entertainment

Every new year brings with it hope. The hope of world peace, of good health for friends and family and, naturally, renewed hope for thousands that they'll make it through the nationwide auditions to become the next "American Idol."

This year's process has already begun, and Season 7 will launch on Jan. 15th at 8 p.m. on FOX. But, if you're among the few and the chosen, are you really ready for prime time? Based on the fact that the same judges, and the same die-hard millions who've powered "Idol" in the past, will be returning once again, the time has come to start looking for patterns.

Gallery: See photos of "Idol" hopefuls

So sit back, rest those vocal cords with some herbal tea, and read on. Because if you're going to become Season 7's big winner, you'll definitely want to hit these notes.

Don't Dance
Every season, a few early wannabes attempt to augment their performance with dancing. Most are dismissed immediately, and for good reason: If you feel the need to dance, then you must know you can't sing. America learned that the hard way with Britney Spears, so why should they have to do it all over again with you? Occasionally, once a contestant like Taylor Hicks has established the power of his pipes, he'll dance and get away with it. Other times, a Joshua Gracin or Jon Peter Lewis kicks up his heels and quickly gets the boot. Either way, it's just not a safe bet, folks. If you want to dance, go on that Marie Osmond show.

Dog Is Your Co-Pilot
America loves an underdog. So, if you're ugly, overweight, got picked on as a kid, or simply suffer from the occasional zit, play up your perceived handicap. As your singing skills get asserted, you can evolve into a more photogenic version of yourself (Hi, Clay Aiken. Hi, Elliott Yamin!), and the fans will rally behind you.

Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself
Embrace the point above, but just beware that if your underdog gets too big for its collar, the voters won't hesitate to send you to the doghouse. Everybody loved Chris Daughtry -- until he started getting cocky. And don't snap back at the judges, a la Justin Guarini, Julia DeMato or Brenna Gethers -- it'll just make you look like the over-egoed second act in a bad musical biopic. Believe it or not, the audience really does like Simon, Paula, and Randy, and have come to regard them like family -- so, if you get too big for your britches, you'll be booted out like a drunken uncle at Christmas.

The South Shall Rise Again
If you're from the South, get thyself to an "AI" audition, post-haste. Don't laugh: It worked for winners Kelly Clarkson (Texas), Ruben Studdard (Alabama), Fantasia Barrino (North Carolina), Carrie Underwood (near the Oklahoma and Arkansas border), and Hicks (Alabama), as well as runners-up like Clay Aiken (North Carolina), Diana DeGarmo (Georgia) and Bo Bice (Alabama). There seems to be several reasons why people from Los Angeles and New York never win: they're too polished, they lack Southern charm, maybe they just don't appeal to the Wal-Mart crowd. Regardless of whether any are true, the trend is clear: Start talking like Andy Griffith, or just stay home.

Pick Popular Songs
Just because you're from the South, doesn't mean you should perform country music -- and, no matter where you're from, don't dare sing a showtune. Showtunes sank the likes of Lisa Tucker and Mikalah Gordon. And Kellie Pickler and Bucky Covington's love of country didn't put them over the top, either. The judges seem to fall for rock music more increasingly with each passing year -- hence Daughtry, Bice and Gina Glocksen -- so, when it comes to the all-important job of picking your songs, skip Streisand and instead go for some Steve Miller.

Don't Be a Freak
Every season, America has an ill-advised one-night stand with Sanjaya and his mohawk, William Hung and his bangs, or Blake Lewis and his beatbox. If your plan is to rely on a fad, you're just trading 15 minutes of fame for a lifetime of mockery. If you really feel the need to go down that road, do like so many before you and simply make a sex tape with Paris Hilton.

Don't Be a Skank
While we're on that topic, short skirts, hot bodies and flirting with the bosses will only get you so far on "American Idol" (unlike in the real world, where it gets you a corner office and an expense account ). Over the years, we've watched Haley Scarnato ineffectively show her skin, and let's not even get started on Jessica Sierra. Frenchie Davis' dirty pictures got her the boot, and Antonella Barba similarly blew her chances. When Corey Clark (allegedly) took flirting to the next level with Paula, it still didn't take him to the top. Learn from the past: Sleeping with Paula didn't do wonders for Emilio Estevez's career, and it won't help yours, either.

Don't Ring in the New Year
Like it or not, America is more likely to fall in love with you when you're single and ready to swing. Performers like Scarnato started the process with a significant other, then shed the baggage as time went on. If you happen to be wearing an engagement ring, it might be a good idea to hide that rock, and hope it puts you on a roll.

Gain a Few Pounds
Typically, traditionally good-looking people are lucky if they make it beyond the top 12. Underwood is the only "AI" winner who could possibly make it as a model, and both she and Clarkson were still burdened by a lot of baby fat when they took home the title. Once again, it proves that people like the underdog, and our supersized nation wants to see its own reflection in an Idol. So, don't look as though you could make it without the world's most famous reality show, or you just might have to.

If You Haven't Got the Talent, Stay Home
The bottom line is, the cream rises to the top, and this show carries on for so many weeks, in front of so many millions, that it always screens out the weaker members of the herd. So either bring your A-game, or sit home on the couch with a lap full of nachos, and join the rest of us in a state that's truly American: idle.
